New flooring cost in Tampa, FL.

New flooring cost in Tampa, FL depends on the slab as much as the floor. This page has the Tampa market averages, with their source. They are not our quote. A price given before anyone tests the slab is a guess, and guesses move later. The 3 questions that place any floor in a range are here too. So is what a low bid leaves out of the prep.

One floor quote can be half of another for the same room. The gap is what the cheap one left out of the prep.

What a low floor bid skips.

Floor quotes for one room can land far apart. The cheap one left prep out, and it comes back later as extras. Check any flooring installer's quote for these 4 things, ours included.

01

The removal and what is under it

A low bid assumes the old floor comes up clean. Glued vinyl, thinset from old tile and a cracked slab do not. Removal and floor prep are the lines that show up later as extras. Ask if they are in the number.

02

Floor flatness

Every plank and tile maker publishes a flatness limit. Most vinyl plank calls for no more than 3/16 of an inch over 10 feet. Grinding high spots and filling low ones is real work. A bid with no prep line will find it later.

03

Moisture testing on the slab

Most Tampa, FL houses sit on a concrete slab. A slab that reads wet fails a glued or a floating floor within a year. Testing takes probes and a day, or a dish and 3 days. A low bid skips it. Ask if the slab is tested, and how.

04

Thresholds, baseboards and the doors

The strips between rooms. The baseboards that come off and go back. The doors that no longer clear a thicker floor. These are hours. A bid that prices only square feet is missing them.

The 3 questions that put you in a range.

Before you call, answer 3 questions about the room. Together they place your floor in the Tampa, FL averages below.

01

What is coming up?

Carpet comes up fast. Glued vinyl and old tile do not. Thinset left on a slab has to be ground off before anything goes down. This one question moves the number more than the floor you pick.

02

Vinyl, laminate or tile?

Laminate and vinyl plank are the cheaper floors to lay. Tile costs more to install than to buy, because it is set piece by piece over a prepared slab. The material you choose changes the number and the calendar.

03

How flat and how dry is the slab?

A flat, dry slab takes a floor in days. A slab that needs grinding, patching or a moisture barrier takes longer and costs more. We test it before the number, not after.

04

The fourth question, which is ours

What the old floor is hiding. Cracks, old glue, a soft spot in a wood subfloor. We cannot see it from a photo. We can see it when the old floor is up, and that is priced only then.

What Tampa homeowners pay for new floors, on average.

Angi updated these Tampa averages in August 2026. They are not our quote. They show what most people paid for a floor before anyone tested their slab.

01

A flooring project in Tampa

$1,376 to $4,819 for most projects, and $3,050 on average, by Angi's Tampa data. That is one room or two, not a whole house.

02

Per square foot, installed

About $12.50 per square foot for a midrange job. Labor alone runs $2 to $8 per square foot. Tile sits at the top, $15 to $20 per square foot installed.

03

What the square foot price leaves out

Taking up the old floor, grinding thinset, patching a slab and moving baseboards. These are hours, not feet. They are the reason 2 bids for the same room differ.

A whole house in tile lands above these ranges. Vinyl plank in one dry room lands below. The 3 questions above show which way your room leans. Your written number comes after the walkthrough.

What happens before the first plank goes down.

A floor price holds when these 5 things are agreed before the old floor comes up.

An unfinished room with white plastered walls and a bare floor, flooring cost
01

A walkthrough of the real room

We measure the room and check the floor with a straightedge. We look at the slab where we can, and at the doorways and the baseboards. It takes about an hour, and the scope is written from what we measured.

02

A written scope, line by line

Every part of the job is listed, what is in and what is not. The part to read twice is what is not in. If the floor touches a toilet or a sink, the scope says so. Maplex Services is not a general contractor. Electrical, AC and plumbing are done by a licensed general contractor we work with.

03

One closed price

One number for the written scope. It moves only if you change the scope, or the old floor hides something. Damage under the old floor is priced once we can see it, never guessed.

04

Milestones tied to stages you can see

Payments are tied to stages. Signing, prep done, floor laid, final walkthrough. You pay for what you can see. Nobody pays for a promise.

05

The room measured with the waste counted

Floors are bought by the box with waste added, usually about 10 percent, and more on a diagonal layout. The scope names the square feet and the waste. That is how you avoid running out one row from the wall.

What is included, and where it ends.

A flooring scope says where the old floor ends and the new one begins. Both lists below are written before the first box is opened.

Included in the scope
·A walkthrough, a moisture test and a written scope before any number
·Protection of the rest of the house and a sealed doorway
·Removal and haul away of the old floor, as listed
·Slab or subfloor tested and prepared, each step named
·The floor laid as listed, with thresholds and trim
·Baseboards removed and reinstalled, or new ones named
·Daily cleanup and a final walkthrough together
Named separately, never assumed
·Furniture moving beyond what the scope names.
·Hidden damage under the old floor, priced only after it is visible.
·Doors trimmed to clear a thicker floor, unless named.
·Plumbing at a toilet or a sink if the floor job touches it. Maplex Services is not a general contractor. Electrical, AC and plumbing are done by a licensed general contractor we work with.
·Flooring materials beyond the written allowance.

How long the room is out of use.

It depends on what comes up and how the slab tests. Carpet to vinyl plank in a dry room is days. Old tile to new tile, with grinding and a cure between steps, is longer. The cure times come from the product data sheets, not from us. Your scope has the dates.

When we tell you not to do it

A new floor is a big number that hides a bigger one, the prep. So it gets sold to people who should wait. We say no in these 4 cases, and we tell you why.

The slab reads wet

A wet slab fails a floor from below. Glue lets go, planks cup, laminate swells. We do not lay a floor over a slab that fails the test. Fix the moisture first, or choose a floor and a barrier rated for that reading.

The house is going on the market

New floors sometimes pay back at sale, and sometimes not. A cleaned carpet and repaired thresholds cost far less. We would rather say that than sell you the whole house.

You are remodeling the kitchen next year

New floors, then cabinets on top of them, then a layout change that leaves bare spots. Do the kitchen first. The floor is the last thing in, not the first.

The problem is one damaged spot

A soft spot, a cracked tile, a lifted plank. Fix the spot. A whole new floor is not the answer to a repair, and we do repairs too.

Stacked plywood sheets on edge, the subfloor material that goes under a new floor

Lifetime warranty on our workmanship.

If the work we did fails, we come back and fix it. That holds for as long as you own the home. On a floor it covers the prep and the lay. The slab we prepared, the seams and joints we made, the thresholds we set.

What the warranty covers
·Planks or tiles that lift, gap or rock because of how we prepared the slab.
·Seams, joints and thresholds we made.
·Baseboards and trim we reinstalled.
·The subfloor repair we made, and whether it held.
What it does not cover, said here and not in a footnote
·The floor material itself. Wear, fading, scratches and dents carry the maker's warranty, and we hand you that paper.
·Water damage from a leak, a flood or an appliance after the job.
·A floor laid over a slab you asked us not to test or to treat.
·Damage from furniture dragged without pads, or from pet claws.
·Plumbing at a toilet or a sink. Maplex Services is not a general contractor. Electrical, AC and plumbing are done by a licensed general contractor we work with.

Floor makers write their warranties for the plank or the tile, not the slab. Most also require the slab test and the underlayment they name. Skip those, and the maker can refuse the claim. That is why both are lines in the scope.

Questions about flooring prices

Is a flooring estimate the same as a quote?

Not always, and the gap shows up as extras. A flooring estimate prices the square feet and guesses the rest. A quote names the removal, the slab prep and the trim. Ours is a written scope with one closed price. Ask any flooring installer which of the 2 you have.

Is the Angi range on this page my price?

No. It is what most Tampa homeowners paid, from a public source with its date. It cannot see what is under your carpet or how wet your slab reads. We give you a number after the slab test, and it holds.

Do you charge by the hour?

Never. Every floor is priced by written scope, from the removal to the last baseboard. An hourly rate would put every slow grinding hour on your bill.

What can change a floor price after I sign?

Only 2 things. A change you ask for, like one more room, is priced in writing first. Damage the old floor was hiding, like a soft spot, is priced once we can see it. Nothing else moves the number.

Can I buy the flooring myself?

Yes. Some people buy at a big store and have us lay it. It works if the box count is right and the floor suits the room. If you want, we measure and order under the written scope, so the count is ours.

Is the walkthrough free?

Yes, and there is no obligation. We measure the room, check the floor with a straightedge and look at the doorways. It takes about an hour. The written scope comes after it, at no charge.
