Eight services

If two of them sound like yours, that is normal. Say so on the walkthrough and the written scope covers both under one price.

What a bathroom costs in Tampa, FL

Three things move a bathroom from one range to the next, and they are the same three every time. The cost page has the Tampa market range and its source. Your number comes after the walkthrough.

·Does anything move: toilet, vanity or shower
·Is the wall behind the tile still sound
·How far the tile goes up
·One closed price, written, after a real walkthrough
Priced by written scope, never by the hour
What decides the price →
A finished master bathroom with a walk-in shower and a double vanity
02 / 08

Master bathroom

The room where the words “while we are in there” cost the most. The written scope says where the job ends, and what a change would add, before anyone starts.

·The whole room as one written scope
·Shower, tub, vanity and lighting in a single plan
·Changes priced in writing before they happen
·Milestone payments tied to stages you can see
Priced by written scope, never by the hour

Compact bathroom finished with a vanity and porcelain tile carried up the wall
03 / 08

Small bathroom and guest bath

The smallest bathroom in the house is the hardest one to price. Everything sits within 6 feet of everything else. Moving one thing moves 3 others.

·Every fixture measured against the real door swing
·Tile carried up the wall to make the room read larger
·Ventilation named in the scope, never assumed
·One trade at a time, because nobody can work around anybody
Priced by written scope, never by the hour
What decides the price →
Finished walk-in shower with large format porcelain tile where a bathtub used to sit
04 / 08

Tub to shower conversion

Where the old tub drain sits decides whether this is a 4 day job or a cut in the slab. We settle that at the walkthrough, before the price, not after demolition.

·Old tub, surround and tile removed and hauled away
·Drain position checked before the price, not after
·Waterproofing membrane with every seam banded
·Glass panel or door set and sealed
Priced by written scope, never by the hour
What decides the price →
Walk-in shower with a low curb, a matte black grab bar, a hand shower on a slide bar and a two-panel sliding glass door
05 / 08

Walk-in shower, low curb or none

No curb on a Florida slab means either the floor comes down or the bathroom comes up. We tell you which one your house needs before you fall in love with a photo.

·Low curb, or curbless where the floor allows it
·Pan built to fall correctly toward the drain
·Blocking for grab bars set before the tile goes on
·Slip rating of the floor tile named in the scope
Priced by written scope, never by the hour
What decides the price →
Shower walls in waterproofing membrane with every seam banded before tile
06 / 08

Shower replacement

Showers fail behind the tile, not on it. If the waterproofing is gone, new tile over it buys you about 2 years. It also hides the real problem.

·Old tile out, board replaced where it is not sound
·Waterproofing membrane, seams and corners banded
·Niche formed and waterproofed with the wall, not after
·Photographed at that stage, before the tile hides it
Priced by written scope, never by the hour

A replaced bathtub with a tiled surround in a finished bathroom
07 / 08

Bathtub replacement

Getting the old tub out is the part nobody photographs. On an older Florida build it often takes a piece of the door frame with it. That belongs in the scope before it happens.

·Old tub removed and disposed of
·Subfloor and framing made sound underneath
·New tub set level and supported as specified
·Surround tiled or paneled, then sealed
Priced by written scope, never by the hour

Bathtub reglazing and repair

The cheap answer, when the tub is sound and only the surface is finished. It is a coating, so it all depends on the prep before the spray gun comes out. That includes what is used to strip the old finish.

·Chips, rust and cracks repaired first
·No methylene chloride strippers, room on extraction
·Bonding primer and sprayed topcoats
·Tile surround coated in the same visit if you want it
Priced by written scope, never by the hour

Not sure which one is yours? Start here.

Most bathrooms are one of these eight cases. Read the line that sounds like yours. The page it points to is the one to open first. Maplex Services is not a general contractor. Electrical, AC and plumbing are done by a licensed general contractor we work with. Demolition, waterproofing, tile and the finish work are ours.

01

The tub is sound and only the surface is worn

Bathtub reglazing and repair. It is the cheap answer when the tub itself is fine. It is a coating, so the prep decides how long it lasts. Done right, it buys you 10 to 15 years.

02

The tub is cracked, rusted or the wrong size

Bathtub replacement. On an older Florida build, the old tub often takes a piece of the door frame with it. That goes in the scope before it happens. The new tub is set level and supported.

03

Nobody uses the tub and you want a shower

Tub to shower conversion. The shower goes where the tub was. Where the old drain sits decides the price. We check it at the walkthrough, before you get a number.

04

You want a low step, or no step at all

A walk-in shower, low curb or none. On a Florida slab, no curb means the floor comes down or the bathroom comes up. We tell you which one your house needs before you pay for a design.

05

The shower leaks, or the tile is loose

Shower replacement. Showers fail behind the tile, not on it. New tile over a wet wall hides the problem for about 2 years. The fix is the layer behind the tile.

06

It is a small bathroom or a guest bath

A small bathroom remodel. Everything sits within a few feet of everything else. Move one thing and you move 3 others. We measure every fixture against the real door swing.

07

It is the main bathroom and the whole room goes

A master bathroom remodel. This room has the most choices in it, so the budget grows here. The written scope says where the job ends. Changes are priced in writing before they happen.

08

You want a number before anything else

Read what a bathroom costs in Tampa, FL. It gives you the 3 things that move a bathroom from one range to the next. It also has the Tampa market range, with its source. Your number comes after the walkthrough.

One bathroom, four stages, nothing skipped.

A guest bathroom in New Port Richey, Pasco County. No company puts the second photo on a website. You never see that layer again once the tile is on.

Photographed on the job, not staged. Maplex Services is not a general contractor. Electrical, AC and plumbing are done by a licensed general contractor we work with.

Bathroom demolition with the wall studs exposed and the old floor tile still down
01 Demolition

Walls open. This is where a bathroom tells you what it has been hiding.

Shower walls covered in waterproofing membrane with every seam and corner banded
02 Waterproofing

Membrane on the board, every seam banded. The layer you never see again.

Large format porcelain tile being set on the shower wall over the waterproofed board
03 Tile

Large format porcelain, set on a wall that was made sound first.
